Goldseekers Outfitting

We can't say enough in the praises of Goldseekers.

Albert went way out of his way to insure that our trip got off to a good start and then followed up during the trip as he coordinated the resupply logistics.

In the beginning he introduced us to Sandy Meekis who in turn helped us with introductions in the First Nations communities and arranged to have his cousin Cory handle our resupply at the Deer Lake community. A few years later Cory became Chief of the Deer Lake community.

The permission to travel across the traditional territories was crucial to us so we enlisted whatever help we could get to make contacts in the First Nations communities ... and Albert, through his many contacts was pivotal in that endeavor.

Whether you are considering a week-long stay in Woodland Caribou Park ... or an adventure like ours you can be assured that Goldseekers will look after the details well.

During our 65 days we phoned in at least once a week just to check in. It was nice to hear Albert or Kelly on the phone and to know that they were ready to act on any request ... like sending my spare boots out to Sandy Lake with our resupply.

From shuttle services to resupply logistics and our weekly check-in calls it couldn't have gone more smoothly ... and our trip wouldn't have been as carefree without the help of Goldseekers.

All our resupplys came off without a hitch ... they even informed us that the cabin on the Keeper River was vacant as we approached and encouraged us to stay there for a night.

If you are considering a longer trip in the Red Lake area be sure to contact Chimo for your flying needs ... you won't be disappointed..

Doug and Claire ... that's them sandwiched between us ... were once again valuable resources.

Claire had traveled some of the territory we were about to attempt and was a valuable asset ... it was she that told us about the old portage from Hornblendite Lake to the Wagin River.

Doug has many contacts within the First Nations communities and he facilitated the exchange of names so that we could make use of those contacts.

As we traveled we came to appreciate the efforts put in before the trip to ask permission and to inform the communities of our schedule.

We were always well recieved in the First Nations communities ... people were genuinely interested in our travels and went out of their way to help us. No matter where we went we were treated well. We just pulled up to the community, introduced ourselves and said a little about our adventure, asked the location of the Band Office and went off to pay our respects. We always just left our canoe and all our gear at the shore as we walked about the various communities ... and although people admired our outfit no-one ever touched anything without us handing it to them.

You couldn't ask for better people to represent the ideals and interests of the wilderness area of Northwest Ontario. Thanks again folks.
